(St. Louis, MO) — Sam Slate has been named Nine PBS’s new Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Sam brings 25 years of enterprise technology leadership across Fortune 500 companies and mission-driven nonprofits. His experience includes building operational infrastructure, guiding technology strategy, leading multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing complex budgets, vendor ecosystems, and capital investments. He will serve as a bridge between technical transformation and executive leadership.

"His ability to translate complex technical issues into understandable, actionable strategies, lead people through change, and connect technology decisions to organizational goals is what sets Sam apart,” says Amy Shaw, Nine PBS President and CEO.

He is a husband, father, veteran, technologist, and advocate, working at the intersection of technology, law, and innovation. Sam is a graduate of Virginia Tech and holds a Master of Legal Studies from Washington University School of Law. A decorated United States Marine and soldier, he is also an enthusiastic reader, traveler, cook, and unapologetic dog lover.

After a long run in Austin, TX, Sam moved to St. Louis in 2023 and quickly became an avid fan of the Cardinals, the Muny, and the Missouri Botanical Garden. He serves on the Human Rights Campaign National Board of Directors, ZACH Theater’s Honorary Board of Trustees, and the Missouri Historical Society’s Education and Visitor Experience Committee.

“Nine PBS is a civic institution at the center of this community's identity. It’s where we learn together, find out what’s happening, and see ourselves reflected back. I’m excited to help make sure the technology behind Nine PBS is as trusted and dependable as the stories we tell,” he says.
