Suggested Bequest Language

A bequest to Nine PBS allows a donor to perpetuate support provided during her/his lifetime and/or make a major gift that might not otherwise be possible.

Through a bequest, a donor may leave to Nine PBS a specific dollar amount, specific property (real or personal), all or a certain percentage of an estate, or all or a portion of the remainder of an estate after provisions for family members and other beneficiaries have been satisfied. The donor may stipulate whether the bequest is for the general support of the station or for a specific purpose. A bequest may also be made in honor or memory of one or more individuals.

In addition to cash and securities, bequests to Nine PBS May include real estate, or other property. Donors should contact the station when planning a bequest of property other than cash or publicly traded securities so that any necessary arrangements can be made to ensure her/his wishes are fulfilled. All outright bequests to Nine PBS are exempt from federal estate taxes (donors should consult tax advisors and/or attorneys for information specific to their circumstances), and there is no limitation on the size of the gift.

Suggested Forms of Bequests

When making or revising a will, a donor should obtain the assistance of an attorney. Nine PBS will be pleased to work with donors and their professional advisors to design an estate plan specifically tailored to their wishes.
