Volunteer

At Nine PBS, volunteers play an important role across all areas of our work. Whether it’s supporting Early Learning initiatives, helping with fundraising efforts, or sharing the mission of Nine PBS with the community, volunteers help us reach more people and make a bigger impact.

Their energy, kindness, and dedication bring joy to our work—and help spark the spirit of possibility throughout our region.

We welcome volunteers ages 14 and up! To get started, simply fill out the online Volunteer Application. We’ll be in touch after we receive your submission.

Volunteer Opportunities

Early Education

Assist children at events with activities, embody a beloved PBS KIDS® character in full-body costume to interact with fans and pose for photos, assemble kits for children at our office, or join us at external events around our community!

Member and Viewer Engagement

Represent Nine PBS as a volunteer ambassador by responding to member inquiries and using your communication, digital literacy, and customer service skills—along with tools like email, databases, and web platforms—to engage with our community.

Office Assistance

At the Nine PBS offices, assist our staff in assembling large mailings, data entry, and overall organizational assistance.

Special Events

Help us make strong connections with our supporters and members of the community. Opportunities involve welcoming visitors and assisting with the overall event logistics. Events are typically on weekends and weekday evenings.

Tour Guide

Help visitors learn about Nine PBS and its position as a national leader in public media. Must be able to communicate with people of all ages and walk without sitting for 45 minutes at a time. Training is provided.
