Stuart will also be the special guest and perform at Nine’s Pioneer Spirit Gala: Sparkle and Twang at The Ritz-Carlton the night before on September 21. Information on attending the gala is at nineNet.org/gala.

Marty Stuart appears extensively in the new Ken Burns’ Country Music documentary series that airs on Nine PBS, beginning September 15. He is a five-time Grammy winner and platinum recording artist, country music archivist, photographer, musician, and songwriter. He is the latest artist-in-residence at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. He recently announced plans for The Marty Stuart Congress of Country Music in Philadelphia, Mississippi (his hometown), which will celebrate the rich cultural heritage of country music through live musical performance and educational programming.

Since starting out singing gospel as a child, Stuart has spent over four decades celebrating American roots music. His teenage years on tour with bluegrass legend Lester Flatt in the ’70s were followed by six years in Johnny Cash’s band in the ’80s, and a chart-topping tenure as a solo artist in the ’90s. Stuart hosts a Late Night Jam at The Ryman, a yearly tradition which kicks off the CMA Music Festival. Stuart continues to record and release keenly relevant music, records that honor country’s rich legacy, while advancing it into the future. Way Out West, his 18th studio album, was named one of MOJO magazine’s “Best Americana Albums of 2017.”

Nine Network’s 65th Birthday Weekend is supported in part by the Steward Family Foundation, Emerson, Ameren, and Boeing.
