Today in Chess

In partnership with the Saint Louis Chess Club, this new monthly series highlights current events in chess, both in St. Louis and internationally, and showcases St. Louis as the "Chess Capital of America." The first episode takes you to chess school to help you understand the battlefield. You'll meet the international players who compete in the Grand Chess Tour, including reigning U.S. Chess Champion, Italian American Fabiano Caruana.

Sharon Carpenter hosts the series from the Chess Club studio in St. Louis. Carpenter, a broadcast journalist, TV host, and producer, originally from the U.K., has hosted game shows, reality TV shows, and even costarred as herself on the prime-time series, Empire. She initially rose to fame as an anchor and reporter for Black Entertainment Television. In 2013, she co-created her first television show, VH1's The Gossip Game, and appeared on the series as a main cast member.
