Over 100 years ago, a Tower Grove Park stream was placed underground. This year, the park begins a $2 million project to bring the stream back above ground for visitors to enjoy. The project will create a natural play area for children and will be in the Eastern area of the park.
The park’s Executive Director, Bill Reininger, says Tower Grove Park has also been collaborating with members of the Osage Nation, the original and longest inhabitants of the land. Part of the project will recognize the history of the Osage Nation, who were forced to leave the area by European settlers.
The stream restoration project follows the $1 million dollar pavilion restoration project that is already underway in Tower Grove Park (watch video below). Both projects are a part of larger plan to renovate the park before its 150th anniversary in 2022.
