In 2026, America will celebrate the 250th anniversary of our founding as a nation. As part of the celebration, PBS stations across the country are launching America’s Awesome Kids, an initiative that showcases a wide and wonderful range of kids (ages 8–10) and their unique geographies, customs, interests, skills, and experiences.
Interested? In a short video (2–3 minutes), share what’s awesome about your interests, hobbies, talents, culture, traditions, family, community, local landmarks, natural environment, and anything else you’d like us to know. These videos will share what’s great about this country and the next generation of citizens who will help lead the way. The applicant must live in the state of Missouri.
General information for video submission
Kids, ask a grown-up to help you create a video that follows these guidelines.
Length: About 2–3 minutes.
Start with an introduction:
Tell us your full name, the town and state where you live, and the name of your local PBS station (for example, "Nine PBS in St. Louis").
Then tell us about yourself. You might share:
- What do you like to do for fun
- Any special interests, talents, or hobbies
- Cultural customs, traditions, or foods your family enjoys
- What’s special about where you live, like local landmarks or natural features
- Something you do that helps others or supports your community
Feel free to answer any of these questions or tell us something completely different that shows who you are. Visuals that connect to your story are helpful but not required. Parents and legal guardians, your child's video and application information will be used internally by Nine PBS (and hosting station GBH) to review the submission.
