She flew with Mary Martin on Broadway in Peter Pan, co-starred in the TV series The Real McCoys ,and was the first woman president of the Screen Actors Guild, but St. Louis native Kathleen Nolan says the lessons she learned performing on the Goldenrod Showboat have stayed with her entire life.

She was one of the most popular Hollywood stars in the 1940s but said nothing in her career rivaled steamboat trips on the Mississippi when a child in St. Louis.
