Nine PBS in Your Neighborhood

Email share

September reminded us just how strong and connected our community is. We hosted events all month long, eager to spend time with as many of you as possible.

Here’s a look back at all the ways we came together this September—Nine PBS is, and always will be, your neighbor.

Storytime in the Commons: Be My Neighbor Day

Kicking off our September events was Storytime in the Commons: Be My Neighbor Day. We saw nearly 600 people pack the Public Media Commons in an event filled with bright-eyed little ones, lots of giggles, and even Daniel Tiger himself.

Our annual Storytime series, which is free for anyone who wishes to attend, is a place where caregivers and children alike can participate in hands-on learning centered around kindness, literacy, and community. We were joined by the St. Louis Fire Department, the Saint Louis Public Library, the Saint Louis Science Center, and many other organizations, all celebrating our region.

Downton Abbey Screening

In honor of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Nine PBS held a premiere screening at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The screening featured themed cocktails and snacks, like Maggie Smith-inspired “Maggie-rita” pizza, Daisy’s delicious chocolate chip cookies, and of course, Mrs. Patmore’s popped corn. Guests were encouraged to play dress-up for the evening in their loveliest Downton Abbey-themed outfits.

Great Forest Park Balloon Glow

The Great Forest Park Balloon Glow was a beautiful evening to connect with so many of you! We were happy to host a booth full of fun activities and to welcome our friends from St. Louis County Library, with its Bookmobile in tow, to the neighborhood. And it was a thrill to see our very first Nine PBS hot-air balloon light up the night!

Tower Grove Pride

On the last weekend of the month, we wrapped up our September events with a booth at Tower Grove Pride. We had so much fun connecting with over 200 of you and joining the parade as a group of Bob Ross-themed walkers!

We’re grateful for everyone who stopped by, said hello, shared a story, or simply showed up in September. It’s neighbors like you who made our events truly special. We can’t wait to see you at our next event soon!
