Nine PBS is proud to tell local stories that represent the people and issues that matter to the St. Louis region. Check out these “Nine PBS From the Vault” specials, as well as new local and national specials during Living St. Louis’s summer hiatus.

July 1 | Mid-Century Modern in St. Louis 
From Council Plaza's Flying Saucer to the Climatron, the Gateway Arch, and the Saint Louis Abbey and Priory School, the St. Louis region became a hotbed of modernist architecture from the late 1940s through the mid-1970s. Originally broadcast in March 2020.

July 8 | St. Louis Walk of Fame 
This Nine PBS documentary tells the life stories of five of the Walk of Fame honorees honored with brass stars on sidewalks in the Delmar Loop, illustrating their courage, struggles, and contribution to the St. Louis community and world history. Originally broadcast in 2002.

July 15-17 | PBS News Hour: Republican National Convention

July 22 | The Making of Nova's Super Bridge 
In a November 1997 episode, Nova captured the challenges of rebuilding the Clark Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge across the Mississippi River between West Alton, MO, and Alton, IL, which opened in 1994. The Nine PBS team was there to produce this special on the making of the episode. 

July 29 | Ferguson: A Special Report 2014 
Community leaders examined what happened in Ferguson and what the next steps should be in this 2014 Nine PBS special report.

August 5 | Ferguson 10 Years Later: A Living St. Louis Special 
This new special commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the fatal shooting of Michael Brown showcases the community's journey toward healing and progress, focusing on key areas such as economic revitalization, police-community relations, education, youth empowerment, and cultural expression.

August 12 | Gentlemen of Vision 
Follow a year in the life of coach, counselor and founder Marlon Wharton, and his class of young Black males as he strives to rewrite future prospects for his students. Witness a brotherhood of young men as they support each other and chase their dreams. This Nine PBS documentary first premiered in 2016.

August 19-22 | PBS News Hour: Democratic National Convention

"Lessons or Scars" Ferguson 10 Years Later | Listen, St. Louis w/ Carol Daniel Podcast Live

It has been 10 years since Michael Brown's death sparked an uprising. Carol Daniel is hosting a conversation with community leaders, business owners and activists from Ferguson and Dellwood to reflect on where we are today.
