Position Description: The Manager, Events supports the strategy and planning of Nine PBS events, while also leading the execution of selected smaller events under the guidance of the Sr. Manager, Events & Engagement. This role advances event planning through strong project management, coordination with internal teams, and execution of event logistics, from vendor communication and timelines to run‑of‑shows and day‑of leadership. The role also supports event‑related marketing and promotion, including basic graphic design, coordination of promotional assets, and contributing to promotional strategy to drive attendance and engagement.
Primary Responsibilities: The following primary responsibilities are vital to successfully meeting the expectations of this position in an effective and efficient manner. This is not an exhaustive list and areas of focus may fluctuate between the primary and secondary responsibilities, as needed.
- Support event planning and execution by assisting the Senior Manager, Events & Engagement with creative concept development while independently managing planning, logistics, and execution for assigned events.
- Coordinate event logistics, including developing timelines, tasks lists, creating run‑of‑shows, obtaining proper permitting and vendor information, supporting audiovisual and technical needs, and overseeing vendors, volunteers and production crew during events.
- Develop and manage event‑related marketing and promotional materials, including basic graphic design for social media, Eventbrite pages, signage, presentations, and other event assets.
- Contribute to promotional approaches, coordinating assets, and ensuring event information is accurate, compelling, and audience‑focused.
- Coordinate across internal teams to support event planning and execution, ensuring clear communication, aligned timelines and collaboration.
Secondary Responsibilities: These are additional activities that are expected to be performed with this position.
- Support inventory tracking and organization of event supplies, materials, and equipment, and work with Sr. Manager of Brand & Design to order new swag and event items.
- Support post‑event evaluation, including gathering attendance data, documenting lessons learned, and contributing to post‑event reporting.
- Leverage project management software to track tasks, manage timelines, and collaborate effectively with team members.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in communications, hospitality/event management, non-profit, marketing, or related field preferred. At least 2-3 years of event management experience with proof of independently planning and executing events. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other MS Office applications. Experience in Canva. Ability to drive a company or personal vehicle as well as lifting and carrying 25 pounds and standing for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors. Experience with project management tools like Monday.com is a plus.
Hybrid Schedule: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, typically working 2-3 days on-site each week, with virtual days approved by supervisor. Must work on-site on Tuesdays, as well as attend all team meetings, one-on-one meetings, all-staff meetings, and events. Due to the nature of our events, evening and weekend availability is required, as needed.
