On May 16, an EF3 tornado traveled 23 miles across the St. Louis area, killing five and injuring 38. Over 5,000 buildings were destroyed, and the damage is estimated at more than $1.6 billion.

In a powerful Nine PBS special, senior producer and host Carol Daniel moderates a discussion centering the voices of those impacted by the tornado. Experience real stories of loss, resilience, and recovery. Learn how local leaders, including Mayor Cara Spencer, have responded, and how they’re planning for the future. Together, we reflect and ask: What happens when the next disaster hits?

Stream on the PBS app, on YouTube, or online below.

The broadcast special was edited to fit in the available time slot. Find the full, unedited version of the program on our YouTube page.
