New Nine PBS Digital Series Launches on Earth Day

Email share

Just in time for Earth Day, a fun new Nine PBS digital series raises awareness about the environmental impact of all our unwanted stuff. Learn more about how you can help heal the planet right here in our community on What Do I Do with This?

This new digital series helps us better understand sustainability and how to be Earth-conscious every day. Learn about specific household items that you might commonly question whether to recycle, donate, or throw away. We’ll also hear about strategies for reducing consumption and creative ways to reuse what you already have. Host and producer Brooke Butler will demystify the process and tackle electronics, furniture, chemicals, fabrics, and more.

Available now, Episode 1 gives us a behind-the-scenes tour at Republic Services recycling plant for a look at how recyclable items are processed. Hear from the experts at Brightside St. Louis and St. Louis City Recycles on the dos and don’ts of recycling. Find out how consumer waste affects our climate and learn about creative ways to reuse materials. Get inspired by Perennial, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping St. Louis residents find creative ways to reuse objects, reduce waste, and embrace a sustainable, self-sufficient lifestyle. Learn from an environmental expert who explores the bigger picture of sustainability, and gain insight into how changes in production and policy can drive a better future.

What Do I Do with This? is available on Nine PBS’s YouTube channel, the PBS app, and ninepbs.org

This digital series is supported in part by Cass Information Systems, Inc., the Graybar Foundation, and the Betsy & Thomas O. Patterson Foundation.
